Hey movie lovers!
Did you see it? Did you see it? Did you see it? You had to have seen it! The new Star Wars VII trailer came out in a TV spot with new footage. The First Order Army is ridiculously terrifying and I’m in love with it! Geek Twitter has been having a great week ever since. As they should. It’s freaking Star Wars. Lemme break it down.
One of the biggest movie news to hit the world was when Disney announced they were taking over the Star Wars franchise. Star Wars fans from all ages and all walks of life took a deep, long baited breath for a little bit more than that. J.J. Abrams is one of the best but the prequels weren’t that amazing and when we were later told that the movies were a continuation of the original trilogy, boy did we anxiously bite our nails.
Then we got an inside look of the Star Wars sets. Wow. J.J. Abrams was paying deep homage to the original trilogy and I loved him all the more for it.
This just got a little more exciting.
But the obsessiveness really exploded when we saw the first teaser trailer.
Then came this epic duo in the second.
Where were you when that scene dropped? I was at my workplace, trying so hard to contain the geekgasms. Han Solo and Chewie? We loved Luke and Leia but come on, Han Solo and Chewie were the realest MVPs of the original trilogy. Let any Star Wars fan say otherwise. Folks, it was official. Star Wars VII was going to be a hit before it came out. And we were all reminded why J.J. Abrams had one of the hugest burdens in Hollywood history.
You want to know how deep my obsession is? When Harrison Ford went to the hospital because of that fast and furious-esque plane ride, I sacrificed some of my blood to the movie gods to make him stay alive. And it worked. Because even the movie gods were like, “Nope. You better have that leg to finish making those movies.”
Clearly, I’m kidding but somewhere out there, some fan went to church twice that week to pray for Harrison Ford’s leg. Injustice is a non-Han Solo existence.
So when a TV spot Star Wars trailer hits Korea, of course we know about it and of course we dish out photos of the scene in the mere seconds it was released. Star Wars geeks have been around since 1977 and have since then spanned the globe. We are everywhere and we can be anyone. Don’t underestimate this fandom’s ability to go bat shit insane when a trailer lands.
For those who amazingly missed it, here’s the TV spot trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, arriving in theatres December 18, 2015. Best Christmas gift ever!
