There are no words in the vocabulary to describe Viola Davis’ Enmy speech. Every time I hear it, I get so emotional because as a black woman, she is living the dream of empowerment. As a black woman myself, I applaud what it now means to be black in television.
She even went one step further to praise the writers who have striven to redefine black roles in television as well as the actors and actresses who portray these roles. I think that part hits me the most. She wasn’t just winning that award for herself. She was winning that award for every black woman who has to work hard to reach her goals, her self-actualization.
Viola Davis. My hero worship is genuine when I say you move me. Congrats.
